Risk Management Focus
Current Topics in Podiatric Risk Management 2019

This course will focus on analyzing two root causes of malpractice claims and present constructive ways of addressing them. Even if you never get sued throughout your entire career, following the suggestions outlined in this course will improve your patients’ satisfaction with your care and, in the process, make you a better doctor.

Upon completion of this course, a user should be able to:

1.  List the essential components of patient education needed to obtain genuinely informed consent.
2.  Explain how to document informed consent in a way that will withstand legal challenges.
3.  Discuss situations in which a specialty consult should be sought before initiating or continuing treatment.
